Redstone Clinic from the Nurses Perspective
The Redstone Clinic is a new building built in 1997. The facility is centrally located in Redstone. Our facility has two exam rooms, a nursing office, a dental therapist office, a community health representative and clinic clerk office, and a drug and alcohol workers office. We have a reception/waiting room, children's playroom, two washroom facilities and a large central meeting rooms with full kitchen. Of course our new clinic building is wheelchair accessible.
Redstone Clinic is presently staffed with two, degree prepared registered nurses, job sharing a fulltime position. Kaylene and Bernita have 17 and 10 years of nursing experience respectively and are band-employed. Our clinic is a community health center with treatment. We feel at the Redstone health center we have a real team approach.
The community health portion involves existing programs and the birth of new programs as community needs change and evolve. The following is a list of the various programs on the go at present in the Redstone community.
An elder's lunch held at the band office every Wednesday. (Set up and put in place by the community itself)

With the ability of treatment in the Redstone community health center it allows us to manage most things as they occur. Below are a few explanations of our scope of treatment.

All in all our team approach enables the Redstone clinic staff to meet and manage the varied challenges, which arise on a day to day bases.
Redstone Clinic Clerk
My name is Lenore Hunlin. I live on the reserve and I work part-time at the Clinic. I was hired in September 1999, and I assist the Nurses and the C.H.R with office work. I work with Ila Charleyboy the Community Health worker and do some home visits once a week with the elders here at Redstone.
My work with the Nurses is to take care of faxes, files and anything I am assigned to do. So far I like my work. The staff of Alexis Creek Indian Band are nice people and hard workers. I believe this community is located in a beautiful place. The people are understanding and helpful. The children are well educated. The location is a beautiful place to live in.
If you have any questions about my work or the people I work with, please contact the Clinic. I am here on Mondays, Wednesdays & Thursdays.
