Tŝi Deldel School Staff

Every student learning… all the time! This is our mission and passion, and every staff member contributes and collaborates toward the actualization of this mission.

Tsi Deldel School is a Certified First Nation School Association (FNSA) member. We are an active participant in the FNSA Professional Learning Community (PLC) initiative and are realizing tremendous benefits in our learning as a result.

Tsi Deldel School is located on Redstone Reserve at Chilanko Forks, approximately 180 km west of Williams Lake, on Highway 20. It is a beautiful part of the Chilcotin and the school is an integral part of this small community. The school is located on the lower portion of the Reserve. The school partners with the Redstone Head Start to provide a comprehensive and extensive educational program for our children. The school services K4 through Grade 10, although currently our Grade 10 program is under review. The school has 5 classrooms for use, a full-size gymnasium, extensive library, and is attractive and well-maintained.

Our school has an excellent professional staff and dedicated support staff. Together they form a team of excellence, positively impacting our students in every way. A firm belief in relational-centered environment, the school employs a variety of research-based academic programs to support effective student learning. Similarly, our Head Start utilizes the High Scope preschool program to work in tandem with the Chilcotin program. Our language and culture is a vital part of the school, and students receive daily instruction in this essential aspect of our school.

Tsi Deldel School is a participant in most FNSA initiatives. We employ several formative and summative assessment tools to drive and inform our instruction. DIBELS Next is utilized to support and supplement the Reading Mastery core reading program and is an important aspect of our Pyramid of Response to Intervention (RTI). Students receive the benefit of small class size, a high percentage of staff who have worked for multiple years in the school, a full-time Principal, full-time Resource Teacher, and a comprehensive meal program. Extensive professional development and collaboration support every aspect of student, and staff, learning. Staff collaboration, along with extensive parental support, is integral to our successes and many staff feel that this is a key strength of our school. We are proud to state that our reading scores are increasing at high rates, with about 30% of our students reading at or above grade level. Students receive the math instruction through the core program of Saxon, and are similarly increasing math scores throughout the school.  Student ownership of learning is increased through the use of SMART goals, for remediation, grade-level learning, and enhancement.

Staff and students have worked very diligently to shape a vibrant school environment that encompasses high standards, a motivation for excellence in learning, and a warm and nurturing atmosphere. Tsi Deldel School Rocks… like a Redstone!
